According to several news platforms online, Uttarakhand’s first Pink Park, a dedicated public space for women, is set to come up in Dehradun with women-centric amenities and enhanced safety facilities.
This park will be an exclusive space for women and children up to the age of 10. More than just a park, it is envisioned as a safe haven offering facilities such as walking tracks, play areas and an open gym. The Dehradun Municipal Corporation has begun identifying a suitable site, with work on the project expected to begin once the land is finalised.
The Pink Park will be designed as a hub for recreation, learning and wellness. It will feature a dedicated Pink Library and reading space where women can unwind with a book in a peaceful setting. Fitness enthusiasts will have access to an open gym, while a dedicated gaming zone with facilities for table tennis and carrom will offer opportunities for recreation and socialising.
One of the park’s most distinctive features will be its all-women staff, from security guards to gardeners, ensuring a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for visitors. The park will also be equipped with essential amenities, including clean public toilets, to enhance convenience and accessibility.

Chennai On Track To Get A Park Dedicated To Women
Dehradun isn’t the only city planning a women-only Pink Park. Just days ago, Chennai announced that its first such park will be developed in Tambaram. Designed as a safe and inclusive public space, the park will feature a modern outdoor gym, a walking track, landscaped gardens, seating areas and dedicated play equipment for children. It will also include disability-friendly infrastructure to ensure accessibility for all visitors.
To enhance safety, the park will be equipped with 24×7 CCTV surveillance linked to the city’s control centre and supported by regular police patrols. Once completed, it is expected to serve as a model for creating safer, women-friendly public spaces.
