Recently, a Mumbai local train derailed near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus or CSMT. The train was plying on the Harbour Line. Fortunately, the derailed train was empty and so, no one was injured and no loss of life was incurred in the incident. The incident occurred on Tuesday, however, commuters are still seeing significant delays in train services. Here are all of the important details about the delay that still persists.

According to an article which was recently published by the Hindustan Times, there was a significant disruption in the train services on the harbour line were significantly disrupted this morning. The delay in service was because of bunching near CSMT.

This caused a delay of almost an hour. As per the officials cited in the HT article, this was owing to the speed limit imposed near the crossover point. This is the point where two train derailment incidents have taken place over the course of just three days.

As per a passenger cited in the article, it took an hour just to get from the Wada Road station to Masjid. The two stations are just four stations apart and even then, it took an hour to cover the distance.

Two Derailments In Three Days On The Harbour Line Near CSMT

Around ten lakh commuters travel via the Harbour Line and it is one of the major connectors of the financial capital of the country. It connects South Mumbai to Navi Mumbai. The two derailments have significantly impacted travel for commuters of this corridor.

Trains are delayed for almost 30-45 minutes but many passengers have reported that some of the trains were delayed for even an hour.

On Wednesday, authorities stopped operations on the line for five hours to carry out repair of the line. However, commuters are still facing delays in train services. It is hoped that officials will resolve the issue as soon as possible.
