DID Winner Salman Yusuff Khan Harassed By Immigration Officer At Bangalore Airport For Not Knowing Kannada

Dance India Dance fame, Indian Bollywood choreographer and actor Salman Yusuff Khan shared an unpleasant incident on his Instagram account. He was at the Kempegowda International Airport to catch an early morning flight to Dubai and was hassled by the immigration officer. The officer harassed Salman for not knowing Kannada despite being born in Karnataka’s Bangalore city. Here is what exactly happened at the airport. 

Salman Yusuff Khan Harassed At Bangalore Airport

Choreographer Salman Yusuff Khan faced a harrowing experience at Bangalore airport as he was about to catch an early morning flight. He shared a video on his official Instagram account with a long note, explaining the incident.

He said that he was stopped by an immigration officer who was speaking to him in Kannada. Salman, who knew the language a little, informed the officer that he understands the language but is not fluent in speaking it.

The officer then showed him his passport, his birthplace, and his father’s birthplace, which is Bangalore. He called Salman out, asking him how he did not know the language despite being born in the city. Khan explained that though he was born here, he did his schooling in Saudi Arabia. 

The immigration officer said that he could suspect Salman of not knowing the language. Salman was taken aback and asked the officer to try him.

No Help From The Authorities At The Airport

Salman Yusuff asked the officer to try and suspect him over this issue, to which the officer said nothing. He then tried to reach out to the airport authorities but failed to receive any help from them. 

While ending the video, Salman said that he is a proud Bangalorean and that one must encourage others to learn local languages instead of demeaning them for not knowing them.

Many people came to support Salman in the comments section and called this incident horrifying. Actress Gauhar Khan too called this incident disgusting. She said that Salman should have sung the national anthem in Sanskrit and then asked the officer if he knew the language. 

 There were also many people who disagreed with Salman and were in support of what the immigration officer said.
