Emirates Airline Schedules Flights To Bring Stranded UAE-ites Back Home From UK

The covid-19 cases in the UK are on the rise. After the new variant of the virus, Britain is now worried about the mutation of the South African variant. To curb the situation, it added several countries on the red list and banned direct flights from select countries. And UAE is one of them. UAE is not only on the UK’s red list but last week the UK had also banned direct flights from the UAE. This move left several residents stranded in the UK. And to help the stranded nationals, Dubai’s National Carrier – Emirates Airlines has now started direct flights from today to bring back the UAE nationals and residents home.

Emirates Airline Will Operate Daily From Heathrow And Four Times A Week From Manchester

The direct services between UAE and UK came to a halt on January 29, which left 1000s in distress. However, to ease the situation, Emirates has confirmed operations of return flights. It will operate daily from London’s Heathrow and four times a week from Manchester. In terms of other places, services from Glasgow and Birmingham remain cargo only at this time.

Confirming this news, a spokesperson from the Emirates said,

“Emirates remains committed to serving customers in the UK and will reinstate outbound passenger operations from 2 February. We are working closely with all relevant authorities. Passengers travelling from the UK are required to check their eligibility for travel as per the UK government advisory as well as check the local entry requirements of their destination to ensure they are permitted to travel. Well, before the UK added UAE to the red list, the Emirates was part of the country’s travel list, meaning visitors could avoid the mandatory ten-day quarantine in place for foreign arrivals. However, now keeping the current situation in mind, one can only hope to travel back to London in the future.
