Five Reasons Why We are Excited for the W Goa Launch

Go Goa this November

W Hotel’s mega launch party last Friday in Mumbai was abuzz with celebrities, influencers, tastemakers and fashionistas. Well, that’s what is expected when an international luxury hotel chain is making a big-bang entry into the Indian market. Mind you, the party was only for the “announcement” of their launch. ‘W Goa’ is yet to open its doors in November 2016 and we are so EXCITED!

This is the hotel’s 50th property in the world and the first one in India. No better place to test the Indian waters than our favourite beach town – Goa. Owned by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, this is also the first launch after the group’s mega-merger with Marriott.

Now, the combined groups have 30 brands between them, including the St. Regis, the W, Aloft, and the Ritz-Carlton. W Hotels is generally marketed toward a younger crowd than their other upscale properties.

Having been launched in 1998 with the W New York, the first few W hotels were mainly conversions of existing hotels already within the Starwood group. W opened its first hotel in Europe in Istanbul in May 2008 and their 50th one is in our very own Goa!

Here are some of the reasons why we are jumping with joy:

1. It’s on the beach, quite literally

W Goa is situated right on Vagator Beach, the new ‘it’ place of Goa. You can literally walk up to the cool places like Thalassa, Antreas or Waters. The Vagator and Small Vagator (Ozran) beaches are more peaceful and less crowded.

2. So Huge!

W Goa will offer 160 stylish and spacious guest rooms, suites and villas. Discreetly spread out over 25 acres of private coastal lands, the hotel’s Living Room, main restaurants and bars boast striking views of the sea.

3. Goa’s Vibrant Culture Comes Alive

The Hotel captures the rustic and dramatic landscape of Goa as well as its cosmopolitan, multi-cultural vibe, injecting Vagator with the exuberant spirit uniquely known to W Hotels. W Goa draws inspiration from the state’s rich history as a mecca for the alternative.

4. Restaurants & Bars

W Goa has many restaurants to offer for your taste buds. Signature destination restaurant, Spice Traders, offers Pan Asian epicurean flavors amplified with sumptuous ocean views and al fresco dining. The Kitchen Table, an all-day diner, serves popular classics and modern interpretations of international favorites. The WET Deck bar refuels guests with healthy snacks and delicious cocktails, while WOOBAR and the Living Room bar transform from comfortable hangout by day to sultry lounge after dark.

5. The Rock Pool

But a trip to W Goa or just Goa (from now on) will not be complete without visiting the Rock Pool which provides a stunning vantage spot to admire sunset panoramas of Goa’s dramatic red cliffs and sea over creative cocktails and innovative Indian fare from a wood-fired oven and grill.

Now you have many reasons to visit the property. It’s hard to believe but, the hotel is already sold out till the end of December. So better luck, next year or pray for some cancellations.
