Food Blogger Creates Blue Idlis With Blue Pea Flower

A video posted by @jyotiz kitchen on Instagram introduces foodies to Blue Pea Idlis. The food blogger first picks blue pea flowers from her garden. She plucks the stems and leaves. Washes them. And then adds them to boiling water to extract the colour. Next, she strains and pours the blue-hued extract into regular idli batter. Gives it a good stir and pours the batter into an idli steamer.

Her Other Innovations Include Blue Pea Modaks

The food blogger also gave a blue spin to Maharashtra’s favourite delicacy — Modaks. A Ganesh Chaturthi special, she added blue pea flower extract to the Modak batter to give it a fairytale-like look. Her Blue Pea Modaks have a regular filling of jaggery and coconut. She delicately shapes them to resemble little blue stars. The Blue Modaks are so pretty.
