The brainchild of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the centre boasts a world-class indoor athletics stadium. The 10,000 square metre track, provides optimal conditions for training and competition. Athletes can hone their skills in long jump, triple jump, sprints, pole vault, and shot put, unfazed by external weather conditions. This climate-controlled environment allows for year-round training, a significant advantage for Indian athletes who previously had limited options during the monsoon season.

Beyond the track, the complex offers a comprehensive training experience. Residential accommodation for 120 athletes ensures they can fully dedicate themselves to their sport. A dedicated classroom allows them to continue their education, while medical facilities and a pantry cater to their well-being. This holistic approach fosters a nurturing environment that prioritizes both athletic and personal development.

The Kalinga Stadium’s expansion isn’t over yet. Chief Minister Patnaik also laid the foundation stone for an indoor diving centre within the complex. This addition will provide a dedicated space for divers to train and hone their skills, nurturing a new generation of aquatic champions.
