Gurudwara Committee In Delhi To Give Saplings As ‘Prasad’ For Tree Plantation Drive

Planting trees should be everyone’s responsibility. In today’s time, when climate change and global warming are at peak, plantation of more trees is definitely a need. Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first of the ten Sikh Gurus was a nature lover, and with his writings and preachings, he always inspired people to form a loving relationship with nature.

What’s In It?

To mark his 550th Birth Anniversary this year, the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) is distributing saplings as ‘prasad‘ to promote tree plantation in educational institutions across the city.

To celebrate the occasion, the DSGMC has launched a mega drive to plant over 1 lakh trees in all the gurudwaras, Sikh schools and colleges in Delhi. The DSGMC in Delhi is affiliated to 9 colleges in both Delhi University and GGSIPU where it’s made compulsory for all freshers to plant 10 trees in the current academic session. Students will be given marks based on this and this will be added to their annual results.

These efforts are being made to promote environmental protection and a sustainable ecosystem in the national capital. It aims to inculcate a sense of responsibility towards the planet, among the Sikh community.
