One of the famous tourist destinations in India, Hampi, is a renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site. People from various countries come to witness the grandeur of this ancient kingdom of Vijayanagar. But, the most-awaited thing about this destination is the Hampi Utsav, also known as Vijaya Utsav. With dance and music, here is why you should definitely attend this year’s Hampi Utsav 2023.

Hampi, which was once an ancient kingdom of Vijayanagar, is a popular tourist destination. The most awaited cultural fest of this historical place is the Hampi Utsav. The festival showcases all the grandeur of the ancient kingdom. Moreover, the traditional folk dancers and artists from various parts of India present their art, complementing the beautiful carvings of Hampi.

There are horses and elephants stationed along the lanes of the city. Similarly, men dressed militarily stand underneath the white, yellow, blue, and red cloth. Apart from this, musicians play traditional musical instruments, and artisans display their handicrafts.

When Is The Festival Celebrated?

The celebration is at the start of January and is a three days affair. This time, the dates are 27th to 29th January 2023. However, these dates are tentative. The Karnataka government is yet to decide on these dates. But, they have finalised three locations, namely Eduru Basavanna Temple, Gayatri Peetha, and Virupaksheshwara Temple. The festival is organised by the Karnataka Government in order to promote tourism. The festival will be a bliss for photographers as they would get to capture the true essence of the Vijayanagar grandeur.
