Later in 2008, it got extreme recognition; it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Built more than a century back in 1903, this ride and its intricacies are undoubtedly one of India’s most miraculous constructions of engineering. The entire ride covers 102 tunnels, 864 bridges, and 919 stunning curves.

A Step-By-Step Guide On Booking Shimla Toy Train:

Visit the official website of IRCTC and register yourself.

  • Click on the link mentioning ‘plan my travel’.
  • Select the railway stations you would like to. For this ride, you need to select Shimla (SML).
  • Fill up the necessary details; date of travelling, type of ticket, etc.
  • If the coach and train are available, then click on ‘book ticket’.
  • The ticket reservation page will appear after this. You will need to check whether all the details are the same as you opted for.
  • Then add the details like the number of people, seat preferences, age, gender, etc.
  • End the process by making the payment.
  • You will receive an SMS and/or an email notification with all the necessary details after you are done with all these steps.
  • You will have to print the details out if you have not chosen the e-ticket option.
  • There are mainly 2 options for the ticket; an e-ticket that will stay with you and an i-ticket which will be delivered to an address you submit.

For the journey of 96 km, around 5-6 hours, there are various types of toy train rides available.

  • Rail Motor Car- ₹160 for children and ₹320 for adults
  • Shivalik Deluxe Express- ₹255 for children and ₹510 for adults
  • Himalayan Queen- ₹235 for children and ₹470 for adults
