It seems that Hawaii will soon grapple with a hurricane. The hurricane is being dubbed Hone, meaning soft and sweet. Officials are worried that it may increase the likelihood of wildfires in the drier parts of the archipelago. The hurricane is expected to reach its peak between Sunday and Monday. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about this particular hurricane heading towards Hawaii.

Hurricane Hone: Category 1 Hurricane Approaches Hawaii

According to an article which was recently published by the Hindustan Times or HT, this particular hurricane has intensified to category 1. By 11 PM on Saturday, the storm had reached the speed of 75 miles per hour or 120 kilometres per hour.

The storm moved west at 12 mph or 19 kph around 170 kilometres or 105 miles south of the Milo region in Hawaii. It is around 440 kilometres southeast of Honolulu. If reports are to go by, it is likely that the hurricane will increase the danger of a wildfire.

Last year, Hawaii grappled with one of the deadliest wildfires in the history of the United States of America. Already, many parts of the region are witnessing dry weather. The strong winds of the hurricane are feared to increase the spread of a wildfire.

Another Hurricane Lurking Beyond Hawaii’s Horizon

Hone is not the only hurricane lurking beyond the horizon of Hawaii. Another one, named Gilma is also posing a threat. However, as per an article by USA Today, Hone is a bigger threat than Gilma. As a matter of fact, the weather officials think that it might weaken significantly by the time it arrives on the coast of Hawaii.

As of now, Gilma is around 1650 miles east of Hilo in Hawaii. Hawaii is on high alert owing to the storms. You may travel to the region, however, you are advised to stay indoors.
