Everyone has unique habits that set them apart, and according to Michelle Poonawalla, her husband, Yohan Poonawalla, the Chairman of the Poonawalla Group, is no exception! His quirky obsession? Having the family name, ‘Poonawalla,’ emblazoned on almost everything he owns. In fact, it extends even to a customised Toblerone bar bearing the family name. Curious to know more? Read on.

During an episode of Stories from Bharat, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, visited Yohan and Michelle Poonawalla’s residence. The visit offered a closer look at the couple’s passions for luxury cars and interior design, while also revealing Yohan’s fondness for having the family name, ‘Poonawalla,’ featured on many of his personal belongings.

“He obviously has an obsession with having the ‘Poonawalla’ name everywhere,” Michelle joked while speaking to Curly Tales. To prove her point, she showed us a giant Toblerone bar that the family had opened for their son’s birthday. And, true to Yohan’s signature style, the chocolate bar had ‘Poonawalla’ embossed on it as well, leaving everyone amused.

If there’s one thing Yohan Poonawalla is known for, then it has to be his extraordinary passion for cars. The automobile enthusiast owns a collection of around 100 vehicles, including more than 20 Rolls-Royces. Among the highlights of his collection is a car bearing the registration number “HMQ 001”, short for “Her Majesty Queen 1”, a vehicle that was once used by Queen Elizabeth II for several years.

Yohan is also the proud owner of one of the world’s rarest Rolls-Royce models, valued at an estimated ₹22 crore. While Michelle Poonawalla may not share the same level of obsession with automobiles, she enjoys driving and is no stranger to getting behind the wheel. In fact, she once beat Yohan in a race while the two were studying in London, proving that she’s more than capable of holding her own on the road.
