Vadodara May Soon Get A Crocodile-Shaped Bridge Inspired By Its ‘Crocodile City’ Identity

Vadodara, the cultural capital of Gujarat, is celebrated for its royal Maratha heritage and grand architecture. But now, the government has some exciting plans in the pipeline for the city. The city’s municipal corporation is planning a crocodile-shaped bridge, a wildlife safari and more to boost tourism in the region. Here’s everything you need to know.

Vadodara Plans A Crocodile-Shaped Bridge As A Tourist Attraction

According to The Times of India, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) is planning three futuristic projects in the city. These include a crocodile-shaped bridge across the Vishwamitri River, a wildlife safari park at Ajwa and a canalfront linear park at Sevasi.

These projects are expected to become major crowd-pullers and help boost tourism. VMC Municipal Commissioner Arun Mahesh Babu told The Times of India that work on these projects is expected to begin over the next couple of months. Among these projects, the crocodile-shaped bridge is what has got people excited. The 57-metre pedestrian bridge is being planned as a replacement for the ageing bridge inside Kamati Baug.

Interestingly, the design will be inspired by Vadodara’s identity as the ‘Crocodile City’. The bridge will improve connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists. In addition to that, it will also become a major tourist attraction.

It will feature cycling tracks, public plazas, themed gardens, interactive public art, solar-powered lighting and much more. Seems like Vadodara could soon become your next travel destination.
