Ayodhya Imposes Non-Vegetarian Food Delivery Ban Within 15 Km Of Ram Mandir

The Ayodhya administration has banned the delivery of non-vegetarian food items within a 15 km radius of the revered Ram Mandir. Authorities took this decision after repeated complaints about online food delivery apps supplying non-vegetarian food in areas marked under the ‘Panchkosi Parikrama’. Here’s more on this.

Non-Veg Food Banned Around Ram Mandir In Ayodhya

The decision to ban the delivery of non-vegetarian food aims to preserve the religious purity and sanctity of the area. Apart from banning non-veg food along the Ayodhya Dham and the Panchkosi Parikrama route, the government has also decided that non-vegetarian food will not be served in guesthouses and homestays across Ayodhya.

According to India Today, the state administration has announced that continuous monitoring will be carried out in the area near the Ram Mandir.  It would be done to prevent any non-compliance with the order. The ban on non-vegetarian food is not limited to sales at shops, hotels, or restaurants. It now applies to online food delivery platforms, such as Zomato and Swiggy, among others. Reportedly, several tourists were ordering non-vegetarian food through these apps, which allegedly did not sit well with locals.

Hotels, Shops, And Delivery Apps Warned

According to a report by The Times of India, all hotels, shopkeepers, and delivery companies have been informed about the ban. Strict action may be taken against those who fail to comply with the new rules. In May 2025, the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation had announced a ban on the sale of liquor and non-vegetarian food along the 14 km Ram Path. This route connects Ayodhya and Faizabad.

While the ban on non-vegetarian food was enforced, the liquor ban was not fully implemented. Furthermore, over two dozen outlets reportedly continued selling alcohol along the route. Officials will now have to obtain permission from the district administration to remove liquor shops from the area.
