In India, there are many temples that attract thousands of devotees. One such temple is the Bhimashankar Temple in Maharashtra. The temple remained closed due to renovation work and is now all set to reopen in June. Read on to know the exact date!

Bhimashankar Temple In Maharashtra To Reopen In June

The famous Bhimashankar Temple is located in the Bhimashankar region of Pune district. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and holds great spiritual importance as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. What makes it more special is that it has one of the three Jyotirlingas located in Maharashtra.

As per Free Press Journal, for the past five and a half months, the temple remained closed due to renovation and redevelopment work. However, as the work is completed, the temple is now all set to open on June 15, 2026.

How To Register Online?

As the Maharashtra temple is all set to open in just a few days, the temple management has introduced an important new rule for visitors. They have made online registration mandatory before planning a visit. The authorities took this step to manage the crowd inside the temple premises. The registration process will start on June 5, 2026. Devotees can visit the temple’s official website to book their darshan slot. From now on, only 1,000 devotees will be allowed for darshan each day. The temple will remain open for devotees from 7 AM to 11 PM.

Talking about the history of this temple, people believe that Lord Shiva took the form of Shankara at the peak of the Sahyadri hills. They say that the sweat from his body gave rise to the Bhima River, also known as Bhimarthi.
