Just a few days from now, we will be celebrating Diwali, a festival of lights, sweets and spending time with family. During the festival, people also enthusiastically burst firecrackers, which can harm the environment. Ahead of Diwali, the Supreme Court has now granted permission to burst only green firecrackers in Delhi-NCR for two days. Scroll down to know more!

When Can You Burst Green Firecrackers In Delhi-NCR?

According to the Supreme Court‘s decision, the sale of green firecrackers is allowed only on November 7 and 8, 2026. As per Hindustan Times report, people can burst them between 6 AM and 7 AM and between 8 PM and 10 PM. After these two days, the complete ban will return from November 9.

The court took this decision because a complete ban had not made a significant difference to Delhi-NCR‘s air quality. It also failed to stop the illegal sale of regular firecrackers, as many traders continued selling them by passing them off as green crackers. Therefore, the court decided to allow green firecrackers under strict rules for a limited period. t also stressed that authorities must work together, keep a close watch and make sure everyone follows the rules.
