Travellers love collecting passport stamps as a memory and proof of their journeys across the world. But there is one passport stamp that is so rare that not everyone can get it because it exists in space! Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla recently shared a social media post about the International Space Station (ISS), calling its custom ink stamp “the rarest passport stamp”. And you will have to be 400 kilometres above the Earth to get it.
Shubhanshu Shukla wrote that to get this stamp on your passport, you don’t need to stand in any immigration queues or get a visa on arrival. You will just need to travel at 28,000 km/h to the International Space Station. This is really cool, right? Under the post, he wrote a witty caption that read, “The most exclusive entry stamp in the world (well, off it).”

This Passport Stamp Belongs To No Country
Shubhanshu Shukla also posted a series of pictures which showed the small ISS stamp. This stamp is usually used onboard to mark mail, mission souvenirs and sometimes a passport page. This special stamp marks a place that belongs to no country.
The astronaut also pointed out the most unique aspect of being in space. It was the number of times an astronaut can see sunrises. “16 sunrises a day. Zero borders in sight,” he wrote. He said fewer than 300 people have visited the ISS, and he asked his followers, “Would you give up a passport page for this stamp?”
This is such an insightful post, right? Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian to visit the International Space Station during Axiom Mission 4 in 2025, and he keeps sharing his activities in space on social media. Just a few days back, he also showed his followers how he prepared Mango Salad in space with just a few steps.
