In a tragic series of events, a bus in Nepal carrying 40 Indian passengers fell into the Marsyangdi River in Nepal. As many as 14 people died and another 16 people were injured in this tragic incident. If reports are to go by, it was heading to Kathmandu from Pokhara when the accident took place. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this tragic bus accident in Nepal.

Indian Bus Carrying 40 Falls Into Marsyangdi River In Nepal

According to an article which was recently published by India Today, as many as 14 people have lost their lives in the incident. If reports are to go by, it seems that the bus was heading from Pokhara to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.

The bus that plunged into the river had a number plate bearing the number “UP FT 7623”. The prefix UP suggests that the bus was from the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The accident took place on Friday, August 23, 2024, in the Tanahun district of Nepal.

Pictures and videos of the incident have taken the Internet by storm. Many are sharing the bone-chilling visuals of the accident on X (formerly known as Twitter). Videos show the top part of the bus ripped off in the accident. The wreckage is truly a gruesome sight to behold.

14 People Killed And Another 16 People Were Injured

In addition to the death of 14 people, 16 people were also badly injured in the accident. Rescue operations are currently underway and it is hoped that no further casualty will be incurred. A total of 45 police personnel are carrying out the rescue operations.

This incident highlights the need for drivers to be extremely careful driving. It is unclear as to what exactly caused the accident. The families of the people who lost their lives are no doubt in a lot of pain.
