All you Chinese food lovers, we’ve got news for you! Soon, you may be able to enjoy fresh, piping hot Chinese food on the train menu. IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) is mulling over adding Chinese dishes to the menu.
IRCTC’s Current Cuisines
According to a report by The Telegraph, IRCTC is thinking about adding more variety to the menu. Currently, you can enjoy North Indian fare like kulcha, chole bhature, rajma-chawal, dal-chawal, sabzi, curries, biryanis, pulaos and more.
At present, some South Indian staples like idli, vada and dosa, too, are included on certain routes.
Chinese Food Will Be Added Too!
As for Chinese food inclusion, you will find veg and non-veg noodles, fried rice, soups, chili chicken, soups and more. The food will be prepped at base kitchens. These base kitchens are situated at important stations. The food will be piping hot as it will be sent to the trains in insulated, hot cases.
While it takes slightly more time to prepare the Indian dishes, an IRCTC official told The Telegraph how it is easy to prepare popular Chinese dishes. The plan tentatively is to serve quality food all while saving time. Well, that’s great!
