Passengers Can Relish Yummy Meals At Howrah Station’s New Food Plaza

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has always aimed at bringing comfort to their passengers. Its Eastern Railways too has been working in the direction of customer satisfaction always. On the same lines, Howrah Station old complex’s Food Plaza was revamped and re-opened after 17 months on 5th September. The reopening was done in the presence of various Railways authorities. Now passengers can relish luscious meals at Howrah Station’s new food plaza. 

New Food Plaza At Howrah Station

In order to bring in more convenience in the journey of their passengers, Eastern Railways revamped and reopened the Food Plaza at Howrah Station’s old complex. Manish Jain, Divisional Railway Manager for Howrah, and Shri Zafar Azam, Group General Manager for IRCTC, along with other senior Eastern Railway and IRCTC personnel, attended the reopening ceremony. On the bottom floor of Howrah station, 3122 square feet are devoted to this newly relaunched Food Plaza. A private vendor has reopened this Food Plaza, paying a yearly licence price of Rs 442,18,786. The agreement has a profit-sharing ratio of 40:60 for the railways and IRCTC.

Chemical Free And High Quality Food 

The licensee has decided to offer high quality and chemical free food to all the passengers. Sundarbans Cooperative Milk and Livestock Union Ltd.’s fresh milk, rice, wheat, and vegetables would be used to produce the cuisine. The new food plaza looks nothing less than an airport with mezzanine flooring. The licensee also promises that the service will be passenger’s demand centric. In addition to this, there will be a variety of other foods, including Chinese food, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, rolls, and ice cream. IRCTC and Eastern Railways intend to open a spa at Howrah station soon.
