Whether it’s ordering food deliveries or dining out, food bills often leave foodies in a frenzy. But you’ve gotta eat what you want to eat right? Well, in the good old days in the 1980s, food was quite cheap. Take the example of a 1985 food bill doing rounds on the internet — where Dal Makhani cost just ₹5. Read on to know more.

Food Bill From 1985 Amounted To Just ₹26

Lazeez Restaurant & Hotel in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi,  took to Facebook to share a food bill dated all the way back to 1985. The bill shows that the customer ordered 4 items on the menu — Shahi Paneer, Dal Makhani, Raita and Roti. What’s shocking is that the Shahi Paneer costs just ₹5, Dal Makhani is priced at ₹5 and Raita costs ₹5. The customer also seemed to have ordered nine rotis, costing ₹6.3 in total. Imagine, the total bill amount came to just ₹26. Can you believe it?

Foodies Joke About The Price Rise

Well, those were the good old days when inflation wasn’t high and eating out was much more affordable. Imagine ordering the same combo at a restaurant today. The Shahi Paneer and Dal Makhani would definitely cost over ₹200. netizens instantly took to the comments section, getting nostalgic about the good old days. One pointed out the lack of service tax in 1985. Another joked that the total food bill amount of ₹26 is just the tip these days.
