Good samaritans from across the world are joining hands to help India fight the tragic battle aginst the Covid-19 second wave. The food industry is one of the sectors on the forefront of this mission to help India. Earlier, an Indian restaurant in Norway donated its day’s earnings to provide oxygen concentrators in Delhi. And now, some of Melbourne’s top chefs have united to host a dawaat which is a fundraiser to support the ongoing Covid-19 crisis in India. Here’s everything about it.
Melbourne Chefs To Host Daawat – Fundraiser for India On June 6
Some of Melbourne’s most respected figures from the hospitality industry have gathered to offer a fundraiser lunch on June 6 to make a difference. Proceeds from the fundraiser will offer aid to India as it grapples the current health crisis. Mischa Tropp, founder of We are Kerala, and head chef at Ish, united with Anou Khanijou from marketing agency Anouconcept to curate this event. They both have close ties with the nation. Daawat – Fundraiser for India is a communal three course lunch for up to 200 diners at Two Ton Max in North Melbourne. The three-course meal will include alternating desserts. Earlier, an Indian restaurant in Norway donated its day’s earnings to Khalsa Aid to help India battle the pandemic.

Proceeds From Lunch Fundraiser To Go To Khalsa Aid
The fundraiser will be hosted by legendary chef, food writer and upcoming cooking school owner Tony Tan and Melbourne Food and Wine Festival’s Pat Nourse. Mischa Tropp of We Are Kerala reveals that he witnessed the pandemic firsthand in India when he stayed in Mumbai in 2020. Tropp states that he is able to combine forces with the Australian Indian community and support the worthy cause.

The proceeds from the ticket sales,money raised at the on the day auction and additional donations will go to Khalsa Aid through the e Victorian Indian Community Charitable Trust (VICCT). Khalsa Aid shall use the donations from the proceeds to provide vital medical programs to support the underprivileged in India. The tickets are priced at $120(₹6837) + booking fee per person. The ticket price includes wleocme drink, entrees, mains and alternating individual desserts. Drinks are not included in the ticket price.
