What To Expect At The Mewar Festival?

The Mewar Festival has a special meaning for women because it coincides with the Gangaur Festival. On the day of Gangaur, the women don their finest and most fashionable attire and lead a colourful procession carrying the idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati to Lake Pichola, where they are then carefully transported on specialised boats. The sight of numerous colourful boats cruising over the azure ocean is something to treasure.

After the Mewar Festival procession, a multitude of cultural activities take place, including dance performances by Ghoomar and Kalbeliya. Folk singers from Rajasthan welcome visitors to the region of royalty by performing unusual songs that are based on classical music.

Rangolis are drawn in front of homes and businesses that are both beautiful and colourful. Beautiful lights shine on the windows of stores, houses, forts, palaces, and historical sites. At the conclusion of the three-day celebration, spectators are treated to a spectacular fireworks display.

When Is it?

The Mewar Festival will be held in Udaipur from 22nd to 24th March 2023.
