The most extensive library in Dubai has completed one year of providing knowledge to people. It feels like yesterday the grand opening happened and the library was introduced to the avid readers. We all are expected to be solemn and quiet in all libraries. But not MBRL! It’s a place to learn interesting new things, have fun with friends and relatives, and participate in fun activities. The youth present at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library (MBRL) at Al Jaddaf’s first-year anniversary would agree with us.
The lectern-shaped library’s one-year anniversary was honoured on Sunday with a wide range of free events and workshops. There were many options available to visitors, including live painting and building terrariums. In its first year, the library received more than 500,000 visitors.

The cultural hub in Dubai had guests of all ages over for the celebration. Many brought their kids too. Why everybody loves it more here? Well, there are multiple reasons for people promising to enjoy and visit the library again. The winning reason will be the no-silence rule. MBRL doesn’t believe in maintaining silence, especially on the ground floor. The authorities believe in maintaining a lively atmosphere where people especially children can interact, learn and enjoy new things instead of following the old golden rules expected in libraries.
The kids who visited the library on the first anniversary enjoyed several learning experiences like restoring old papers, and live paintings, making terrariums and more. Parents also enjoy bringing their children in here as they watch them learn and grow. Many of the visiting readers informed Khaleej Times how they always come across something new every time they visit. Some young ones also commented that they love it here and are waiting for the library authorities to allow them to take books back home to read. Well, we might wait for this feature to start soon by the library.
All and all the first year anniversary celebration of Mohammed Bin Rashid Library was a hit in Dubai.
