Anupriya Nagar did not just invest money in Hanuman Ansh. She bet on a story she could not get out of her head. In an episode of Stories From Bharat, hosted by Kamiya Jani, the producer spoke about how a film rooted in faith became a personal mission, one that eventually demanded far more than the money she put into it. The most striking part of her journey, however, was what happened when the film failed to find an audience on its opening day.

Anupriya Nagar Invested ₹50-55 Lakh In Hanuman Ansh After Reading Its Script

It all began when a family friend introduced Anupriya to the project. She picked up the 120-page Hindi script and started reading. What followed was an emotional connection she found difficult to explain, with moments that gave her goosebumps and brought tears to her eyes.

She knew she wanted to be part of the film. When the team struggled to arrange the money, she stepped in with her own savings. Investing ₹50-55 lakh was a significant decision, especially when she was earning over ₹2 lakh a month, but the story had convinced her. With her parents supporting her decision, she backed the project and pushed for a theatrical release rather than letting it go straight to an OTT platform.

Then came the question of getting people into theatres. Hanuman Ansh was scheduled to release on August 7, but the team had no money left for marketing. Anupriya’s response was simple: “No, mai apni marketing karne nikal rahi hoon.”

She went to Delhi and personally emailed around 100-150 podcasters, asking them to interview her. She wished to speak about the film on different platforms, including one where she discussed Maharaj, reaching audiences who might otherwise never have heard of her project. There was no big promotional machinery behind her, just a producer trying to get people to give her film a chance.

The opening day was brutal. Anupriya went to a theatre to watch her own film as an audience member and found only around 20 people in the hall. After everything she had invested, the sight was difficult to stomach. The film’s screen count was shrinking, and she feared its theatrical run might be over before it had properly begun.

What Happened After Anupriya Nagar Met Guruji At Bageshwar Dham?

Then, at Bageshwar Dham, something happened that she remembers to this day. Anupriya met Guruji, who asked her about the film without her bringing it up first. When she explained how the screen count had fallen from around 300 to just 30, he calmly reassured her that she was doing good work for Gen Z and Gen Alpha, and that she had made a good film. She left with renewed confidence. The very next day, she said, the film’s performance improved by 22%.

For Anupriya, the journey from investing ₹50-55 lakh to seeing Hanuman Ansh emerge as a reported blockbuster was never just about box-office figures. It was about refusing to abandon a film when the theatres were nearly empty, the marketing money had run out and the numbers offered little reason to celebrate.

Sometimes, the person who keeps believing in a film long enough is the one who gives it a fighting chance.
