Mumbaikars, Expect Traffic On Western Express Highway As PM Modi Comes To Town

Mumbai is finally inaugurating two new corridors of the metro today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will do the honours and hence will be visiting Mumbai. On account of his visit, there will be a slight disturbance in the traffic throughout different parts of the city. The Mumbai Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory regarding the same. Mumbaikars, take heed of the advisory as your regular travelling route might be more congested than usual.

Mumbaikars, Traffic On Western Express Highway Expected

Ahead of PM Modi’s visit, the Mumbai Police issued an advisory stating that certain travelling routes in Mumbai might be disturbed, face more traffic than usual, or even be shut altogether. It seems that the Western Express Highway will be the most affected.

The advisory issued by the traffic police suggested that between 4:15 PM and 5:30 PM, traffic might be slow on the southbound carriageway on the Western Express Highway. This means that those who are travelling from north to south during this time might face an increase in traffic congestion.

The advisory also mentioned that between 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM, the northbound carriageway might face increased congestion and slower movement in traffic on the expressway.

In addition to these disturbances in traffic, the Mumbai Police has also decided to deploy over 4,500 cops in the Western Suburbs. Additionally, flying will also be restricted in the areas close to the event venue when the PM will be arriving. Moreover, four units of SRPF, one unit each of the anti-riot squad and the rapid action squad will also be deployed.
