Mumbaikars, Local Train Mega Block Till Jan 17 To Add To Your Work Travel Blues

Mumbai locals are known as the lifeline of the city that never sleeps. To make sure that these services are never disrupted, the divisions have to carry out maintenance and infrastructure upkeep. The Central and Western Railway have announced a mega block and jumbo block on the 15th and 17th of January. The blocks will affect the central line, harbour line, trans-harbour line, sub-urban line, and western line. Here are the details to help you plan your travel better.

Local Train Mega Block: Plan Ahead

On 15th January, Mantunga to Mulund Up and Dn fast lines will face a mega block from 11:05 am to 3:55 pm. The trains will arrive 15 minutes after their scheduled arrival time. Dn fasts leaving from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Up fasts leaving from Thane will be diverted from Matunga and Mulund. During the block, trans-harbour line services between Thane-Vashi and Nerul stations will be available.

From 11:05 am to 4:05 pm, the Panvel to Vashi Up and Dn Harbour lines on the Harbour Line will be closed. This excludes the Nerul/Belapur-Kharkopar line. During the block period, special local trains will continue to run between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Vashi. Suburban train services will be running according to their schedule between Belapur/Nerul and Kharkopar during the block period.

No Day Blocks On Western Railway

For the conversion of the Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) panel to the Electronic Interlocking (EI) panel, the western railway will not face mega blocks during the day. On the up and down slow lines, the block will be from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am. On the fast lines, the block will be from 12:35 am to 4:35 am and on the 5th line, it will be from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am.

The night of Tuesday, January 17, from 12:33 am to 04:30 am, a four-hour mega block has also been declared between Vasai Road and Virar stations to conduct routine maintenance work. There won’t be many slow trains diverted to the fast route in the downward direction. Therefore, there won’t be a block this Sunday on the Western line.
