The militant group Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel by air, land, and sea on October 7, 2023. The war between Palestinian militant groups led by Hamas and Israeli troops has shocked the world. The death toll has crossed 1100 and is continuing to rise. In between all the chaos and intense tension among people, a group of people from Kerala was stuck in Israel.
Keralites Stuck In Israel
Many people from different countries are stuck in Israel due to the ongoing war announced in the country. Among them, a group of pilgrims from Kerala was also stuck there. It is a group of 45 Malayalis who unfortunately got trapped in the rising tension. Just like others, they also felt stressed about staying in the war-hit country. The group had a long itinerary planned after they left for foreign destinations from Kerala on October 3.
They travelled to the holy places in Jordan, Palestine, and Israel, according to a report by Manorama News. The next country that they planned to visit was Egypt but things soon took a turn and war between Israel and Hamas began. The Israeli army officials did not allow them to travel and they ended up being stuck in the country. The pilgrims had to cover 70 km to travel to Egypt but they could not continue the journey as the army officials stopped them and did not give permission.
A man from the pilgrim group stated that they are safe over there and are staying in a 5-star hotel. They had a conversation with the Indian Embassy as well and they wanted proper assistance to reach back. The Embassy stated that the Israeli military would be there to help them to cross the border of the country.

All these 27 citizens crossed the border and reached Egypt through the efforts of MEA and our Indian mission.
Many pilgrims from India visited the country to travel to different holy places. Many Indians are unfortunately in Israel at this time. Some airlines have cancelled flights to the country.
