Bringing Galeries Lafayette to India is Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd (ABFRL). The retail and fashion arm of Aditya Birla Group has entered a partnership with the French luxury department store chain to open outlets, as well as a dedicated e-commerce platform, in India.
According to Livemint, more than 200 premium and designer labels will be housed in the Mumbai and Delhi flagship locations. The 90,000-square-foot shop in Mumbai and the 65,000-square-foot store in Delhi are both scheduled to open in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
The Mumbai shop will be located in two century-old structures in the Fort Precinct, a commercial and artistic area of the city. Virgile & Partners, a company that has worked extensively on department stores across the world, is renovating the buildings.
One of the standout features of Galeries Lafayette is its magnificent building. Moreover, the shopping spaces are architectural masterpieces that are visually striking. For the longest time, it has been more than just a department store; it is a Parisian institution that encapsulates the essence of luxury shopping.
