In a first, 18 lions were captured together in one frame at Gir Forests in Gujarat. This was the first time in history that 18 lions were photographed together at the Gir National Park. This achievement brings to light the efforts of conservation put in by the authorities to increase the lion count in India. The iconic picture was clicked by Preeti Pandya, who is the wife of a wildlife photographer, Bhushan Pandya. The couple were visiting the Gir Forests in June on the occasion of World Environment Day when Preeti was able to capture this historic shot!

20 Lions, Was Able To Capture 18: Bhushan Pandya
Talking about her experience at the Gir Forest last month, Bhushan Pandya told The Indian Express that they had the information regarding 20 lions being present in the area. Following this, Preeti could capture 18 of them in one frame. He also informed that the other two were very playful and restless because of which Preeti couldn’t accommodate them in the photograph.

Never Seen 20 Lions Together In Six Decades
Expressing his delight, Bhushan said that he has been visiting the Gir Forests for nearly six decades but never came across such an iconic sight. He went ahead and called this moment a matter of pride for the entire country. He also praised the wildlife conservationists, government authorities, locals, NGOs and all those involved in the conversation of lions. Preeti Pandya dedicated this photograph to the state’s forest department as well as the people on the field, The Indian Express reported.
