As a part of the ongoing Onam festival in Kerala, Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi was seen enjoying a traditional Onam Sadhya feast in an old-age home in Malappuram. And while the main Onam celebration or Thiruonam is on August 21, people start celebrating ten days prior. This year, the harvest festival started on August 12 and will continue till August 23. Onam Sadhya consists of over 26 delicacies prepared with 60 ingredients and is served on a banana leaf. The lip-smacking platter consists of fried vegetables, curries, red rice, pickles, and sweets. Onam Sadhya includes delicacies such as Pachadi (pineapple or bitter gourd in yogurt), Chenna Varuthathu (yam fried with kitchen spices), Sambar, Olan (ash gourd in a thick coconut milk gravy), and Avial.
