Sharjah residents should be cautious before moving out of their homes after yesterday’s dust devil sighting. The climate in the Middle East was disturbing yesterday. Some parts witnessed hail and rains whereas Sharjah saw a dust show. UAE is not familiar with such weather conditions.

Storm Gathers In Sharjah

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) posted a video of the whirlwind creating a funnel-shaped accumulation of dust in the Madam region. This is a second such observation in less than ten days. Residents captured what appeared to be a miniature tornado swirling above the earth last week. The NCM issued a warning, advising citizens to avoid regions vulnerable to flash flooding and landslides.

Sharjah Experiences Rains

On Thursday evening, areas of Sharjah and other interior areas of Dubai experienced heavy to moderate rainfall. For cloudy conditions and the risk of precipitation in the Eastern and Interior regions of the UAE, the National Center of Meteorology declared red and yellow weather alerts. Rainstorms could make it harder to see horizontally. Hence motorists were strictly informed to avoid long commutes.

Al Badayer, Maleha, Mahafiz, Umm Ghafah, Al Faw, Khor Fakkan in Sharjah, and a few locations in Al Ain all had rain. On the Dubai-Al Ain road approaching Al Hiyar, the NCM also noted some light rainfall.

Citizens of Dubai also noted cloudy conditions and mild winds.
