Where’s the gap
There are some places which have a huge gap between the prices of a local taxi and an Uber.
Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh fairs number one with the most glaring gaps in local taxi and Uber prices on the list of places where taxi is cheaper than Uber. The cost per km by taxi is ₹40.41 while the ride hailing app charges ₹343.03 per km. That’s the highest gap on this list of ₹302.62. Uber is becoming increasingly popular in the city. Mexican city of Cancún topped the list of the largest gap in places where Uber is cheaper. The cost per km by Uber is ₹19.74 while a local taxi charges ₹139.09 per km. That’s the highest gap on this list of ₹119.36.

Who’s the cheapest
It’s India! India is the cheapest for both taxis and Ubers.
Agra offers the cheapest local taxi services at ₹13.16 per km versus ₹14.10 for Uber.
Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur offer the cheapest Uber services at ₹8.46 per km.
Meanwhile in India
Local taxis in Delhi cost ₹14.10 per km.
Local taxis in Mumbai cost ₹24.44 per km.
Local taxis in Jaipur cost ₹13.16 per km.
Chennai offers Uber at ₹13.16 per km and local taxis at ₹15.98 per km.
Kolkata offers Uber at ₹9.40 per km and local taxis at ₹15.98 per km.

The most expensive
Riyadh in Saudi Arabia is the most expensive for Uber at ₹343.03 per km.
Chiba in Japan is the most expensive for local taxis at ₹286.65 per km.
Where else
In Athens and Istanbul, prices are the same. A New York City taxi is cheaper than Uber by ₹49.81 per km and in Milan they’re ₹77.07 cheaper per km. Lisbon, Porto, Madrid and Seoul are some other big cities where it’s cheaper to get a local taxi.
Uber is cheaper by ₹93.04 per km in London. However, the firm’s application to renew its license was cancelled last month by the London’s transport authority. Uber’s largest European market cited passenger security concerns for this. Uber is cheaper than taxis in Amsterdam by ₹96.80; in Munich by ₹84.58; in Toronto by ₹68.61; in Sydney by ₹50.75 and in Los Angeles by ₹32.89 per km.
