The Kannada film Kantara deeply rooted in the local culture and tradition of the Tulu Nadu region spread like wildlife across India and the world. After its stupendous commercial success in 2022, the makers have announced a prequel to the film titled, Kantara A Legend Chapter-1. Actor-director Rishab Shetty and his team organised a muhurat for the film at the revered Anegudde Temple in Kundapur; here’s why you must also visit this temple.

Kantara Chapter 1 Team Holds Muhurat At Anegudde Temple In Kundapur

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara was a film absolutely loved by the fans and critics alike. So, a prequel for the film was announced and a muhurat was held at the Anegudde Temple in Kundapur, Karnataka on November 27. The official account of Hombale Films—the production house behind popular Kannada films like Kantara and the KGF franchise—  shared a video on Instagram and X. Sharing a sneak peek of the muhurat of Kantara Chapter 1, the video just amped up the excitement amongst fans.

Rishab Shetty, his wife Pragathi and children, Ranvit and Radhya visited Anegudde Temple in Kundapur to seek blessings from Lord Ganesha. The Kantara Chapter 1 crew including producer, Vijay Kiragandur arrived with cameras and other equipment in their hands for the muhurat shot. In the video, the priest does a small puja for the smooth shooting schedules of the film. Rishab Shetty stated to TOI that they wanted to keep the muhurat low-key. He goes on to add that the global response to the film has made the makers more responsible.

Kantara Chapter 1 technical team will be the same as the previous film. Currently, the team are auditioning actors from across the South with preference given to Kannadigas. Like the first film, the teaser for the prequel also promises to take the audience on a divine and celestial experience. This time with historical emphasis on the Kadamba Dynasty, the rulers who reigned over northern Karnataka and the Konkan between the 3rd and 5th centuries.

The name Annegude translates to ‘Aane’ meaning Elephant and ‘Gudde’ meaning a hillock. This translates to the abode of the elephant-headed God, Lord Ganesha.
