Sadhguru Says You Must Avoid These Food Items. And We’re Taking Notes! | Curly Tales

The founder of the Isha Foundation, Sadhguru, is a spiritual leader whom many of us follow. Moreover, we admire him for his great spiritual knowledge about life, especially food. So, we are in Coimbatore to enjoy a Sunday breakfast with him and watch him get candid about his life. With Curly Tales Editor-In-Chief, Kamiya Jani, let us know about his definition of food and why it is an essential part of our bodily functions.

Sadhguru’s Thoughts On Food

Generally, we have Sunday brunches with our guests, however, at Isha Foundation, we are having a Sunday breakfast but in Sadhguru’s style. According to him, food builds our body, and it is the main part of the fuel, in addition to water, air, and sunlight. They balance out the energy requirements in the body. Moreover, this energy is required to carry out your daily activities. If you change your diet, the volume of food that you consume will reduce significantly.

Every kind of activity requires a specific type of food. For example, physical activities may need solid food like chapati, dosa, but for mental activity, a liquid millet porridge is enough. During breakfast with him, we saw a few interesting things laid out on the menu. First, there were two little balls of turmeric and neem. Also, there were sprouted methi, soaked groundnuts, soaked almonds, walnuts.

Sadhguru has a sattvic diet that includes grains, nuts, seeds, and other plant-based foods. Also, there is hardly any spice included in it. When we asked what food a person should avoid, he replied that aloo paratha, chole bhature, sabudana should be avoided.

For Sadhguru, there is no routine that he follows. Except for the first twenty seconds, where he reorganises his energy before starting the day. There is no checklist whatsoever. According to him, it is not a policy but a conscious response to what is happening around you.
