Authentic Chhole Bhature

A visit to the capital is incomplete if you don’t try out the local chaat or chhole bature.  So head to Sitaram Diwan Chand in Paharganj in New Delhi. Neither for the ambiance nor for the decor,  SDC is known only and only for its authentic chhole bature along with some crunchy onion and green chillies!

Always Buzzing

This place has been around since before 1970 and even now, you will find it crowded. There are steel tables to stand and eat. The ambience is very old school, like a canteen with noisy vessels. But that’s the best part about it, not changing its atmosphere at all – You get a taste of tradition as well.

Complimentary

They will have a standard set of onions, stuffed chillies and some fried potatoes to complement your dish and that also ensures you’re spicing up your meal really well.

What’s Special?

They serve only what they are best known for-Chhole Bhature. It is made in the perfect amount of masala and does not burn your mouth. Even those chillies won’t be too spicy. Their bhaturas were a little oily than usual but hey, indulgence is indulgence. The quantity of chhole is perfect for one person so you won’t need an extra serving either.

They won’t have any beverages, but there is a small shop right next to it where you can get soft drinks, juice etc. So just pick something up and head inside!

Take Me Home

Recently, the joint has started its own shop where they sell readymade chhole packets, chhole masala, paneer masala and sooji halwa as well. I tried their readymade chhole and I was amazed. Delicious!
