Sharjah To Open Desert Activities With Covid Measures In Place

In a bid to boost tourism, the ban on desert tours in Sharjah is lifted by authorities. Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) announced this update on Wednesday. As per the guidelines, tours and other tourism activities are permitted to resume keeping the covid-19 measures in mind.

Tour Operators In Sharjah Will Be Monitored To Ensure That They Are Following Guidelines

On the same, Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, chairman of the authority, said that tour operators would be closely monitored to safeguard public health. Furthermore, he added,

“We are implementing a strict schedule of inspection of establishments and activities through regular field visits under the supervision of an integrated team of SCTDA inspectors to ensure the issued precautionary measures are being followed and limit the spread of Covid-19.”

Tour Operator To Maintain Records While Taking Bookings

To ensure the safety of locals and tourists, SCTDA has come up with a detailed guide for tour operators to follow. As per the rules, meticulous disinfection of vehicles and public areas need to in check. For the tourists and locals, food and beverages will not be allowed inside the tour vehicle. People should maintain a distance of at least two metres during activities.

Besides this, signboards must be placed around the vehicle reminding passengers to avoid crowding or gathering in one area and aiding them to follow the health and safety measures. Over and above, tour operators have to start using a reservation system that lets health authorities to collect information to help track contacts if necessary, in addition to adopting electronic payment methods.

Reception desks of tour companies should have plastic or glass bars to accept payment transactions. Regular sterilisation of premises is again a must. Tour operators following all the guidelines can now resume activities in Sharjah.
