On Sunday, The Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum led a Cabinet meeting. In the meeting, a temporary license for the first all-electric cargo plane was approved. There will be zero emissions as the aircraft will run completely on clean energy. The move can be an important contributor in the shipping sector’s changing future. 

Temporary Licensing Of First Electric Cargo Plane

Global climate change has made many countries like UAE to try and move towards various transportation modes that are both eco-friendly and sustainable. The reason behind this is to achieve net zero emissions which will help the future. Keeping this in mind,  a temporary license for the first all-electric cargo plane was approved. The requirement of green and alternative energy can be achieved with the help of this temporary licensing. Another advantage of this move is that it reduces the shipping cost for both consumer and supplier. Hence this move will surely contribute to the evolving future of the shipping sector and the environmental impact as well.

Plans To Purchase 150 Electric Cargo Planes

The aviation sector is also aiming towards bringing in eco-friendly fuel and energy efficient aircraft. The aircraft manufacturers in the US and Europe are developing an all electric plane. The other aircraft they are developing will have electric vertical take off as well as landing. DHL Express placed an order for 12 all electric Alice eCargo aircraft with Eviation, an US-based electric aircraft company. The Alice eCargo aircraft is a single pilot aircraft. It has a range of 815 kilometres and a capacity of 1,250 kg. Additionally, UPS had stated that it plans to order up to 150 electric cargo planes from Beta Technologies in 2021.
