Nestled amidst Kerala’s exquisite landscapes, Cherukattoor is a hidden gem that entices visitors with its tranquil charm and natural surroundings. This small town in Wayanad, which is frequently eclipsed by its more well-known neighbours in the Western Ghats, provides a special fusion of scenic beauty and cultural diversity. Still, the expansive coffee plantations that cover the slopes and add to the town’s unique character and economics are what really make Cherukattoor stand out. Nestled among these coffee farms is Cottage White, an estate designed to create, preserve, and share memories with visitors from all over the world.
Cottage White In Kerala Offers A Tranquil Escape!
Travellers looking for a peaceful getaway in beautiful settings will find Cottage White to be the perfect retreat. This rustic 2-bedroom residence exudes peace and has a lovely coffee fragrance that permeates the entire day.
According to the host Raiz, their family has owned this plantation for many generations. It had a crucial role in his upbringing. Some of his favourite recollections of moments with family are from their annual visits to the estate during harvest season. However, as they travelled far and wide, they became aware of how much their distance had grown. So, they decided to establish a custom of returning to the estate at harvest season.
In addition to providing a space for their expanding family, they founded Cottage White to preserve the special moments from his childhood and to pass them on to his offspring. He hopes that his guests can enjoy the same happiness and contentment that this estate has provided for him and his family over the many years.
As soon as you step inside, you will find an area created with folks who value finer things in life in mind. The property’s open construction lets the natural light flood the interior, creating the ideal atmosphere for a comfortable and welcoming feeling. The sunshine that streams in through the stained-glass windows creates a captivating display of hues in the living area, further enhancing the property’s appeal.
Coffee-Themed Activities, Breathtaking Views & More
The patios, a guest favourite, provide breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and the coffee farm, creating a serene, comfortable atmosphere for unwinding. Take pleasure in sipping Bella Kappi, a distinctive Wayanad coffee offered at the Cottage White that combines conventional black coffee with organic jaggery.
Depending on the time of the year you wish to stay, there are lots of fun-filled coffee-themed activities you can indulge in. You can take part in the actual harvesting of ripe coffee cherries if you come here in November or December. This practical experience will undoubtedly help you feel more connected to the long-standing custom of coffee farming.
Likewise, if your trip falls during the rainy season, you can take pleasure in planting coffee seedlings, delving deeper into the experience, and making some priceless moments with your loved ones.
Additionally, various sustainable and eco-friendly activities are practised on the plantation. During harvest season, the site maintains traditional hand-picking practices. Only fully ripe coffee cherries are carefully chosen by skilled professionals, leaving the immature ones alone. This method protects the environment and coffee plants while guaranteeing the quality of the coffee.
With a 100% organic accreditation, the property boldly rejects artificial chemicals and pesticides in favour of natural and organic farming methods.
