Surat To Get India’s First Bullet Train Station By 2026

On Monday, Union Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said that there has been good progress in the construction and infrastructure of India’s first bullet train which will be operational between Surat and Bilimora in Gujarat. Looking at the progress, the minister is very much confident about meeting the target and having the bullet train operational by 2026.

Travel Time To Be Reduced By Half

Bilimora is a town in Gujrat’s Navsari district. 320 km per hour is the maximum speed projected to be run on the high-speed rail corridor between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, covering a distance of 508 km and 12 stations. With the operation of the bullet train, it is expected that the travel time between the two cities will be reduced to half that is 3 hours. About 81 per cent of the project cost which is approximately around ₹1.1 lakh crore.

Modi’s Vision, 130 Crore People’s Aspiration

Vaishnav visited the under-construction Antroli railway station as part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor and also inspected the operation of a segmental casting yard. Later, accompanied by Darshana Jardosh, Minister of State for Railways, he also visited the project site at Nasilpore. When he was asked about the progress of Maharashtra’s bullet train, he said that due to land acquisition the progress is a bit slow. He said that it is Prime Minister Modi’s vision of providing ultra-modern and best services to the general masses and that they are working in order to fulfil the aspirations of 130 crore people.
