The New Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Will Cut Travel Time By 2.5 Hours

The project of the New Delhi-Dehradun Expressway entered one of the most important parts of the construction process. The project is starting to build the 340-metre Daat Kali tunnel in the last 20 km stretch of the expressway passing through the eco-sensitive zone of Raja Ji National Park. Nitin Gadkari updated the citizens about the New Delhi-Dehradun Expressway by sharing some pictures and information on his Twitter handle.

New Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Is Having Major Development

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, posted some pictures of the present condition of the expressway with some details too. He talked about the breakthrough achieved in this massive construction of the Delhi-Dehradun expressway. The minister also added that this elevated corridor of 12 km is the longest wildlife corridor in entire Asia.

Nitin Gadkari wrote on Twitter, ‘Breakthrough achieved on Delhi-Dehradun Expressway project. The last 20km stretch passes through the eco-sensitive zone of Raja Ji National Park where Asia’s longest elevated wildlife corridor (12km) is being constructed that includes 340m Daat Kali tunnel. ‘

How Will This Construction Cut Travel Time?

The minister also posted another glimpse of the construction where he mentioned how the travel time will decrease after the completion of the Delhi-Dehradun expressway. In fact, this tunnel aims to protect the local wildlife. ‘The tunnel intends to protect the surrounding wildlife. Once completed, the expressway would reduce travel time between Dehradun-Delhi from 6 hrs to 2.30 hrs & Delhi-Haridwar from 5 hrs to 2 hrs’, captioned the minister on his Twitter.

The expressway will be a massive help for people travelling between Delhi and Dehradun by road. The travel time to reach Dehradun from Delhi or vice versa will take only 2 hours and 30 minutes. The other roads take the journey as long as 6 hours. To travel between Delhi and Haridwar, the journey will be completed in 2 hours. While it takes about 5 hours to travel by other highways.

The under-construction Delhi-Dehradun expressway falls under the Delhi Dehradun economic corridor. It is believed that the construction will be over by March 2024. The final stretch of this expressway will connect Dehradun by the Daat Kali Devi tunnel.
