1. Public Displays Of Affection, Dubai
Yes, did you know that this includes everything from kissing and hugging to even holding hands? It is illegal to indulge in public displays of affection, and if you are found breaking this law, chances are that you might get deported or even imprisoned! Since not many foreigners are aware of this rule, they might have to face the subsequent consequences of breaking the same in Dubai.
2. Kissing At Train Stations, France
As surprising as this rule sounds, it came into existence after French Railways grew tired of the delays caused by farewell kisses on the platforms. As a result, now there’s been a law since 1910 that aims to avoid any costly delays and overcrowding at the station. However, there is no formal penalty today, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. 3. Feeding Stray Animals, Santa Cruz de Tenerife
A fairly new rule, this destination prohibits people from feeding stray animals in order to preserve a better and cleaner environment. This means, tourists can be fined if they’re caught feeding stray and wild animals like pigeons, cats, and dogs. The reason for this has been attributed to the fact that it is considered a contribution towards littering. In case of minor breaches, tourists might get charged seven €50. However, in more serious matters, they may have to shell out €3000!
4. Being Drunk In A Pub, UK
As bizarre as this sounds, you cannot get drunk at a pub in the UK. According to The Metropolitan Act of 1839, it’s against the rule for the keeper of the public house to permit drunkenness on premises. So, if you have plans to head over to a pub in the UK and get sloshed, you might get fined for a whopping £200, if found intoxicated.
5. Having Blow-Up Dolls, Malaga, Spain
Malaga is known as one of the most popular party resorts and for its vibrant nightlife. However, law officials have often been unhappy with the behaviour of tourists that come here. So, to avoid this, tourists are warned to leave their rude inflatables and costumes at home or they might get charged seven €50!
6. Wearing High Heels, Acropolis Of Athens, Greece
Born out of necessity, it is forbidden to wear high heels in a lot of famous places, such as the Acropolis and the Epidarus Theatre in the Peloponnese Region. This has been done to preserve the history and ancient stone ruins of these iconic sites. Although the ban was introduced in 2009, it was put in place because sharp-soled shoes were causing damage to these places of national importance.

7. Standing On Money, Thailand
Yes, you read that right. If you are found stepping on the currency, you can get a hefty prison sentence. Stepping on the currency, which also includes accidentally standing on the money is seen as disrespectful to the king. The reason for this is that these coins and notes have the image of his face, and so, this act can fetch someone a prison time of up to 15 years.
8. Taking A Selfie, Amalfi Coast, Italy
To stop human traffic jams during the peak season, the famous town on the Amalfi Coast has prohibited tourists from taking selfies. Yes, if they’re standing for too long to take pictures, they can be fined €275! However, this rule is in place only between 10:30 AM to 6 PM, so you can safely take stunning pictures of the beautiful sunrise and sunset without baiting any penalties.

9. Jaywalking, New York, USA
For those who aren’t aware, jaywalking is referred to as unlawful walking on the street, without any regard to the approaching traffic. And as it happens, this is illegal in New York. This is hardly surprising as New York City is pretty busy in terms of traffic, so, if a pedestrian is caught not giving the right way to the vehicles, they can be issued a fine by police officers.
10. Swearing, Australia
This rule is as simple as it gets if you are caught swearing in public places in Australia, you can be given a hefty fine. The maximum penalty for this is a whopping, AUD1250, or even a three months imprisonment, which is in place in South Australia. So, if you are planning to visit the country, don’t forget to be on your best behaviour!
