5 Things You Can Do On A Destination Wedding Other Than Enjoying The Wedlock

We all get excited about attending destination weddings, don’t we? Watching the pheras take place under the sky in front of a vast ocean or towering mountains is nothing short of a feast of eyes. No wonder, they give total marriage goals. Also, weddings like these give us opportunities to doll up in our most gorgeous attires and take pictures with many marvellous hills, waterfalls, forests and more in the backdrop. That’s something that surely doesn’t happen every time we travel. Having said that, there’s actually a lot more to do at a destination wedding other than simply attending the wedlock. Here are 5 things in which you can take part the next time you’re invited to a destination wedding:

1. Save Some Time To Explore The Nearby Places

A destination wedding usually takes place in a spacious resort on the beach or atop the mountains or maybe inside a historic fort. Apart from exploring the resort and spending time with your dear ones, you must take out some time to tour around the nearby destinations. For example, if you’re attending a wedding at Kerala’s Athirappilly, you must take out some extra time to explore the Athirappilly, Charpa and Vazhachal waterfalls.

2. Try Out Local Delicacies

A visit to any destination remains incomplete without trying out its local delicacies. So, while on a destination wedding, other than enjoying the delicacies served in the ceremony, you can take your siblings or friends along to try out some regional food from the streets and local cafes. Say, your friend is getting married at Darjeeling, would you not try out the town’s special momos, shaphaleys and sel rotis?

3. Collect Souvenirs

Don’t just carry back the moments of a particular place in your memories, let a masterpiece of the destination stay with you too. Say, if you’re at Shillong, you can pick up an iconic feathered Khasi arrow from Bara Bazaar. Years later, it will not only remind you of Shillong but will also bring back the memories of the wedding that you attended.

4. Live In The Moments

Remember that ‘solid sunset’ scene from the movie Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani? Naina and Bunny had gone to attend their friend Aditi’s wedding in Rajasthan. When Bunny was worried about missing out the light and sound show, Naina stopped him, insisting him to enjoy the sunset telling, “Agar Hum Chale Gaye, Toh Ye Solid Sunset Miss Ho Jayega..” It’s true that sunset behind the mountains looks profoundly surreal. And moments like these are not to be missed.

5. Take Part In Adventure Activities

You can take part in adventure activities that happen near the wedding resort to feed your adrenaline rushes. In case you’re an adventure buff, you can’t come back from Rishikesh without wallowing in activities like e flying fox, giant swing, river rafting or bungee jumping. Or if you’re in New Zealand, you must experience the best of skydiving at Nzone Skydive Queenstown.
