According to the head priest, Agra’s historical ‘Rajeshwar Temple’ is at least 850 years old. The Historical temple is one of the oldest places of worship to exist in India. There’s another important attraction that has tourists flock to this temple. Myth has it that all your wishes come true in Rajeshwar Temple. Established by a ‘Seth’ of Rajkheda, this 850-year-old temple is proof of India’s glorious heritage!

The Legend Behind The Color Changing Shivling of The Historical Temple

According to a popular legend, a Seth of Rajkheda, Rajasthan was traveling with a Shivling on a bullock cart from the banks of the Narmada River. He initially wanted to install it in Rajakheda but soon fell asleep in the place where the temple stands today. He dreamt of Lord Shiva who told him to install the Shivling at that very spot. Even after the man ignored his dream, the Shivling got installed there on its own. And since then has been at the very spot, changing its color thrice a day. The color appears white during morning aarti, light blue during the afternoon aarti, and pink during the evening aarti. Absolutely mind-boggling!

Rajeshwar Temple Holds Special Aarti During The Month Of Sawan, Celebs Often Visit

Indian temples are famous for holding beautiful Aartis. As Indians, aartis are a profound act of selfless devotion, gratitude, and love towards the supreme lord. And each temple has its own unique Aarti. In Rajeshwar Temple, a special Aarti is held during the holy month of Sawan. The temple opens its doors to the devotees at 4 am and closes them at around 10.30 pm. There’s also a special puja that’s held during the Sawan month. The historical temple is handled by a trust. The temple recently underwent some renovation and expansion with the help of the locals and the trust. You will also find lots of Bollywood celebrities offering prayers at this temple. On July 8, celebrity couple Payal Rohatgi and Sangram Singh performed a puja at this 850-year-old temple ahead of their marriage. No doubt the couple chose this historical temple for their rituals, considering its blissful aura!
