Train delays and overcrowding happen frequently during holidays and festivals. But in winter, when visibility is reduced owing to fog throughout northern India, it grows worse. Numerous trains were cancelled or delayed and a Kanpur man had to take Ola as his train was delayed by 9 hours.

Kanpur Man Takes Ola As His Train Was Delayed

A man from Kanpur recently posted his agony on X, the previous Twitter, following a nine-hour train delay. He claimed that in order to make his connecting train from Kanpur to Jhansi, he was forced to hire an interstate taxi. He paid ₹ 1,500 for a validated Tatkal ticket, but regrettably, in order to reach his destination on time, he had to pay ₹ 4,500 for the taxi ride.

Others who experienced train delays also shared their stories. In the meantime, a user said that even with a verified ticket, he was forced to stand the entire journey. Abhas Kumar Shrivastava detailed the first difficulties he had finding his way to his assigned seat on the packed Rourkela Intercity train in a post.

Upon reaching his assigned seat, he noticed that it was filled by a woman who was expecting. Instead of asking her to get out of her seat, he chose to stay outside the train entrance for the entire two-hour ride.

Netizens Shared Their Stories

 

A user advised the man to file for TDR where he can get ₹1500 refund. Another user shared that his aunt went from Delhi to New York faster than he went from Delhi to West Bengal as the train was 16 hours late.

One of the users stated that he was travelling from the Nagpur-Hyderabad train. And it was scheduled to arrive at 7.10 AM, however, it arrived around 3.30 PM. Further, he asked who is to blame for his salary loss if his train is nine hours late and he has a night duty at 8 PM.

A user commented that he had the same experience and it cost him ₹4,600 to reach his destination.
