But, when we visit abroad we take almost care to not litter the surroundings there. Then why do we not even think twice before throwing a plastic wrapper or empty juice box by the roadside? Littering public spaces, not only dirty the surroundings, but it also wastes the efforts of people who spend hours trying to keep our surroundings clean. But thanks to social media, and the efforts of government officials, citizens will learn to pick up their own trash. Recently, two travellers were made to return back 80 km from Madikeri to Coorg, just to pick up the pizza boxes which they dumped by the roadside. Read on to know more.
Two Travellers Dumped Empty Pizza Boxes On Karnataka Highway
According to Bangalore Mirror, two men travelling in Karnataka threw their empty pizza boxes on the highway in Coorg. But that was not the end of the pizza story for them. General Secretary from the Kodagu Tourism Association, spotted the trash. He informed Bangalore Mirror, “I was keeping a close watch in the area to curb the garbage menace on our hill station. When I was returning home on Friday, I noticed some pizza packets tossed on the side of the road. I felt like all our efforts were in vain.”

Tourism Official Finds Bill With Contact Details Of Men Inside Pizza Boxes
He opened the empty pizza boxes and found the bill. Through this bill, he came to know the name and contact number of the traveller. He called the two men and told them to drive back 80km from Madikeri to Coorg to pick up their trash. The two men apologized but refused to drive back all the way.

Police, Tourism Official & Social Media Users Contact Men To Drive Back 80Km To Clear Their Trash
The secretary then informed the police about this. The cops also contacted the two men. But they once again, informed that they left Coorg and were in Madikeri. They expressed their inability to return back 80km. When the police also were unable to convince the youth, they resorted to social media and shared their contact number online. Angry netizens called the duo in large numbers to travel back and pick up their dumped pizza boxes.

Embarrassed Men Drive Back 80Km To Clear Their Littered Pizza Boxes
Thoroughly embarrassed by this situation, the duo left with no choice, drove 80km, back to Coorg to pick up their trash. And this indeed became a huge win for not just, the citizens of Coorg, but for us, Indians as well. It’s indeed a moment of pride to witness government officials and even social media users take so much efforts to make sure the roads in our country are spick and span.
