Travel Guide: How To Solo Explore Tirthan Valley In Himachal Pradesh In 24 Hours

Tirthan Valley in Himachal Pradesh is known as Himachal’s best-kept secret. This valley is blessed with huge mountains that seem to touch the sky, beautiful alpine meadows, dense coniferous forests, and a spectacular landscape. This location, located 1600 metres above sea level, feels nothing short of paradisiacal. Our solo female traveller, Neha Nambiar, visited this beautiful valley, and here is a guide for you.

Tirthan Valley In Himachal Pradesh

Tirthan Valley is 10–12 hours away from Delhi by road. If you wish to travel by train, the nearest railway stations are Ambala railway station and Kiratpur railway station. The closest airport to this place is Bhuntar Airport in Kullu. Neha travelled here by air and then took a cab to the valley.

Neha stayed at The Treehouse Jibhi’s A-Frame Cottage, a river-facing cottage. The cottage offered stunning views and cost about $3,600 per night. After a 10-minute hike from the property, you can book a cab and explore more of the valley. The very first place was Choi Waterfall, which is a sacred place named after the local goddess Choi Mata.

The next place you can visit is the Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP,) which is a UNESCO heritage site. The reserve is spread across four valleys in Himachal Pradesh. The place can be explored after a 25-minute hike from the entry gate. Neha shared a tip as a solo traveller that you should be flexible enough to prioritise your safety on the trip.

“You must avoid commuting in the dark,” Neha advises, and she too made it back to her property on time. The next morning, you can take a dip in the ice-cold stream just in front of the property. Make sure you relish some Sidu, which is a Himachali snack. Tirthan Valley has so much beauty to offer, and Neha’s stay was surely a memorable one for her.
