Travelling To Ladakh? You May Not Find Taxi For Sightseeing Due To Heavy Rush

Ladakh is known for its breathtaking landscapes and amazing mountain passes with the most amazing weather, especially during summers. Well lately many people are actually visiting Ladakh and if you are one of them, we have a piece of news for you. If you think you will land in Ladakh and very easily will get a vehicle then probably you should change your mind.

Shortage Of Transportation

Ladakh has this year been almost everyone’s choice it seems as people get back to travelling after two years. The place is full of tourists and which is why the place is facing a shortage of transport facilities. All Ladakh Tour Operators Association issued an advisory for all the tourists informing them that the shortage is expected to continue till mid-July this year. There are chances for the situation to get better after July. The problem is only with transportation as accommodation is available. Right now the priority of transportation is given to the ones who have booked it in advance and not the last-minute bookers.

Go For Personal Or Rented  Vehicle

Earlier it was a rule that you can surely come in your private vehicle to Leh and after that book the local vehicle to support their economy and provide employment. But now as the place is facing a shortage of transport, only for a short term, they are allowing booked commercial or rented vehicles from other states as well. If it’s a private vehicle it has to be in your name and if it’s a rented or commercial one you have to inform the local taxi union and pay about ₹500 to ₹1000 to obtain a permit chit.
