Getting one’s boarding pass at the airport is one of the most tedious tasks. And while most of us now prefer to get one on our smartphones, there are still some who prefer paper boarding passes. As it happens, if you are travelling with Emirates after May 15, you will probably need a mobile boarding pass as the airline is phasing out its physical version. Here’s all you need to know about this development regarding taking your flights.
Emirates To Do Away With Physical Boarding Pass
Yes, those who are travelling with Emirates from Terminal 3 will now receive their mobile boarding passes through email or SMS. According to a report by Khaleej Times, passengers who are checking in online will be able to load their boarding passes on their Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, or even retrieve them on the Emirates App. As such, even the checked-in baggage receipt will be emailed to the passengers or can be taken from the Emirates App. However, there are some passengers who may still lead the paper boarding pass to board the flight.
While the Emirates is doing away with physical boarding passes in favour of mobile versions from May 15 onwards, some people might still need the former. These include those who may be travelling with infants and unaccompanied minors, passengers who may require special assistance, those who have onward flights on other airlines, and people travelling to the USA. As a result, this move is expected to reduce paper waste while also offering a convenient check-in process for passengers in Dubai. Moreover, these boarding passes can be used throughout the journey at the Dubai Duty Free, Security, and Boarding.

Some May Still Need Paper Boarding Pass
All they will have to do is get the QR code on their mobile boarding passes scanned at the gates by the Emirates agents and airport staff. Having mentioned all these details, it’s worth noting that the option of printing boarding passes is still available by request. You can make these requests to Emirates agents at check-in counters. If you cannot access the information on your device, there is a glitch or even your battery is running out.
Doesn’t it sound like something that will make travelling an easier experience?
