With the moment of commemoration to begin at 10 AM, this annual event is marked by citizens and residents across the nation. As it happens, the beautiful flags flowing to the tune of the breeze are back as well. Yes, if you wish to witness this wonderous site, you will have to head over to the beach near Umm Suqeim Park, where you will find the majestic Burj Al Arab in its backdrop.

What Is The Significance Of This Day?

As it happens, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Ruler of Dubai and the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE also took to his official account on X to make a call to the people. Yes, in his post, he called for the people to raise the Emirati flag on November 3 at 10 AM in the morning together. Celebration of the flag, homeland, pride, dignity, and glorious union, this is an important date for Emiratis.

In case you’re wondering about the history of Flag Day, it was first celebrated in 2013. An idea by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the occasion also marks the anniversary of his highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Nahyan’s accession, as the President of the UAE in 2004. While this day is commemorated every year, it is not a public holiday.

It should be noted that the flag should be rectangular with the height being half of its width and the colours must be in the correct order. Not to mention, the owner must check the condition of the flag every 45 days to ensure no damage has been caused. Not to mention, it must be changed every six months.
